Soccer referees needed!
Refereeing soccer is a good way to learn about soccer and make a bit of money as well. Once trained, refs can do games for Frontenac Soccer Association and for other local clubs if they wish. If 14 years old by April 1st, you need to take the 2 day ‘entry level’ referee course to ref any age group up to 2 years below your own. If under 14 but at least 12 years old by April 1st, the 1 day ‘small sided’ course allows you to ref up to u10. If you did the 1 day SS course previously and have turned 14, you now need to do the 2 day EL course if you want to ref above u10. Courses can be found by going to the website at https://www.refcentre.com/ontario and then searching under our local district SOSA which will show you courses now available in Kingston and area. You can also search under other districts such as ECOSA or EODSA to see additional course offerings (nearby in Ottawa, Smith’s Falls, Cobourg, Peterborough, etc.). Once you find the course you want (1 day SS or 2 day EL) on a weekend that works for you, click on the blue ‘Register’ link beside that course and follow instructions. All courses have a fee, but referees who ref for FSA reliably over the season will have all or part of their course fee reimbursed. Any questions email FSA Head referee Peter Boag (firstname.lastname@example.org).
